Our Story
About how our story began… We will do our best to capture it for posterity although some of you have already heard it hundreds of times!
“Once upon a time there were two tipsy hearts longing for love and adventure, wandering through this special night in London until they heard- what they thought was an unknown music- perhaps something coming from the stars, although it was coming from the basement. Was that the underworld or the stars calling?
And it just happened that they bumped into each other, in the least expected of places, in the less expected of times, like two Cinderellas whose time was running out, who were not supposed to be in a club on a working day, let alone already tipsy or should we be more honest…pretty drunk (after all, it was all supposed to be “just the last drink” as per friends request).
It wasn’t expected, and perhaps because neither of them thought that it was going to be possible to find love again and especially not in that dim lit but lively cellar in the middle of loud Soho in London. There it comes, the moment when Clara arrives to the busy dance floor and not long after, time came to still… her eyes met Joyce’s bewitching blue eyes (which she thought they were green at the times, oupsy); there were few seconds of hesitation and then she decided that no way she was going to let this gorgeous woman out of her sight that night… and just like that, in that very moment, Joyce moved her way and came dancing into her life. It was something magical… her clear joy, her smart response, her magnetic energy. No one had warned Clara that Joyce was a sneaky little witch (and several of you can vouch for that…) and then it was too late for Clara, the spell was cast and Joyce became impossible to resist.
Joyce also took that split second decision to embrace Clara’s seductive dancing moves, her cheeky brown eyes and a smile that made Joyce dazzle. Who bewitched who? remains the unanswered question here. It appears that Joyce was equally not prepared to be melted by the sparks coming from Clara’s volcano heart… who knows? Maybe it was these sparks that ignited some fire in Joyce, difficult to extinguish. There was dance, there were laughters, there was pure joy in that very unforgettable night and a sneaky escape of the pair, leaving the friends behind… (thank you for your understanding ;)).
And so two different worlds collided, from the land of sun, lakes and volcanoes to the land of rain, tulips and techno, their fate was sealed in that delicate balance of being grateful of the lives they had before and in the openness to explore a new road. They both welcomed a new force in their present lives and as can be expected with volcanoes that meet rain, there have been steamy moments but also some storms and hurricanes on that yellow brick road. Joyce learned that pigs can fly and Clara learned that mushrooms can open doors to wisdom and are not just for adding on to pasta.
They started writing together a new beginning to the story Koch-Silva which will have for sure goblins, fairies, evil rabbits, brave cats, (inner) dragons to slay and important, magical dancing and good music. Sleep will come hopefully at the end. Some rest for these two souls. A story where their lovely home in de Pijp (dubbed “the house of techno”) where Percy and Bembe are the fluffy kings of the garden and where friends, family, food and dancing all have a prominent role.
This is where all of you come in the picture, as Clara and Joyce both hope to share with you this new life, and happy to celebrate this new story written with the ink of intertwined underworlds, galaxies and stardust.”
